I am a writer and photographer living in the Pacific Northwest in the greater Seattle region. I love the depth and power of words and the creation of imagery. With regard to the written word, I am especially fond of poetry (most often free verse) because of the intensity that occurs in the interplay of ideas, images, and rhythm — all within an economy of words. In addition, I compose both vocal and instrumental music for piano, guitar, autoharp, and harmonica.
I own a photography company, Color of Light, where I create and sell images for real estate, commercial business, portraits, and documentaries. The goal of my photography is not to “shoot” a landscape scene or “capture” an image of a person or event, but rather to translate ideas and vision into images. Renowned photographer, Ansel Adams, observed that “… visualization [is] the entire emotional-mental process of creating a photograph, and as such, it is one of the most important concepts in photography. It includes the ability to anticipate the finished image before making the exposure.” 1
My degree is in Behavioral Psychology, followed by several years of study at the Pacific School of Theology. In addition, I am certified through the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education), as an instructor for English as a Second or Foreign Language. 2 My ESL/EFL focus is adults at all levels of competency. I am dedicated to helping ESL learners become accomplished in speaking, reading, and writing the English language. For more information about my ESL/EFL tutoring and instruction, please click here.
My earlier career centered in the aerospace industry as a leadership and organizational design consultant, leadership instructor, and distance learning manager. In the latter capacity, I helped produce live, business education television broadcasts to the UK, Japan, China, and Australia.
But most essentially, I am a Christian. I am a follower of Jesus and a believer in showing kindness and compassion to all. Here are some of Jesus’ words, which are among the most precious to me: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” 3
