The Wings of Hope

In the morning — just before the dawning,
When the night’s most long and cold,
And the heart of all creation’s longing
For light to break dark’s ruthless hold.

Just then in clouds of angels rising
From the promise in the east
Will mount on thunderous wings, these tidings,
“The Day Star comes — with light and peace!”
