About
Brief History of Masulita Worship Center and
Pastor Robert Kasozi
Our ministry has been in
operation since 1998 when the Lord told us to return to the village
where I once lived with my grandparents, and to bring the gospel to my
people.
When I was 11 years
old, a civil war broke out in Uganda and
though hundreds of thousands of people died, the Lord preserved my life.
For three years I lived in swamps hiding from soldiers who were killing
innocent people. We lived like animals and only came out in the evenings
to look for food to eat. If it rained, we had no shelter. During that
time, I lost my only sister, my grandpa and many of my school and
village friends.
After three years we
were forced out of the swamps and surrendered to the government who
placed us in a military camp. It was a miracle for me to survive because
many people were killed in that camp. A commander’s wife, who was of my
tribe, saved me by adopting me. She did not have any children of her own
but she took me in and I escaped from the war zone. Later, she took me
back to the city where I joined my parents.

My friend Jacob
introduced me to the Lord when I was 19 years
old, and I came to know Jesus as my personal friend and Savior. I began
attending Seguku Worship Center where I met missionaries Ron and Shirley
DeVore. My parents had little to do with me after I became a Christian,
so Ron and Shirley adopted me and sent me to high school and Bible
College in Uganda. Then in October of 1997, they brought Robina and me
to the United States for our honeymoon. It was here that God told us to
return to Uganda and to Masulita to plant this Church. I struggled
against the idea of returning to the village where I had suffered so
much, but the Lord worked in my heart and confirmed the call in several
ways to both Robina and me. Six months after coming to the U.S. we
returned to Uganda and started the church.
Since then God has
done many wonderful things! Our church has
grown from only my wife and me to about 350 people and three satellite
churches. Our ministry involves crusades, orphan ministry and church
planting. We are accountable to Uganda Christian Outreach Ministries,
which is under the authority of World Outreach Ministry Foundation,
headed by Ron and Shirley DeVore from Seattle, Washington.
